On Robin Roberts: The Definition of Being Beautiful

Robin Roberts

Seeing Good Morning America TV co-anchor Robin Roberts on ABC's Oscar red carpet preview show, I have to say I admire her so much.

Roberts was diagnosed with breast cancer back in 2007 at the age of 46, had treatment and all seemed well.† Then last year she announced that she had MDS (myelodysplastic syndrome) , a rare blood condition caused by the chemotherapy treatments that saved her life.

I had watched Friday's 20/20 special, Robin's Journey, and after drying my eyes, decided that I have a lot to be grateful for and that I also need to work toward loving the sheer beauty of life by doing more of what brings me joy (and not what other people think should bring me joy). That also includes, hopefully, bringing joy to others.

Looking at Roberts this evening, I thought about real, true beauty that has nothing to do with cosmetics, that you couldn't buy in a jar or at a makeup counter.† It's the kind of beauty that radiates from a true appreciation of life, and the beautiful outreach of prayers and love from family, friends and fans that Robin Roberts received, didn't hurt!

Welcome back Robin!
