With the exception of fiery red lips, the autumn shades for lips and face are very subtle, monochromatic and nude. Fall lips take on an almost spring look with pastel tones of coral and pink shades. It’s not surprising that bright reds from cherry to crimson, are back, perfectly lined, filled in and covered with high shine lipstick. You’ll also find bright matte orange hues and deep berries and wines, and lips with metallic shine.
Cheeks get a super-flushed look with noticeable tones of blush on the apples of the cheeks that move down towards the jaw line. Makeup follows a monochromatic trend with one warm color, like caramel, toffee and subtle golden shades, and the use of tinted moisturizers instead of foundation.
Nails will continue to feature nail art designs, animal prints, nail overlays and Minx gel nails. Long oval shapes appear in French manicures with dark shades on the bottom and light tips as seen at Jason Wu, as well as cobalt and other shades of blue, jewel tones and metallics. Expect to also see more vampy nails in glossy shades of midnight black, granite, navy and grays.
