This is the second part of my review of the Simply Vera Vera Wang Cosmetics line. This review features the Eye Illuminating Primer, Transforming Shadow Duo, Long Wear Eyeliner, Volume Enhancing Mascara, Length Enhancing Mascara, Smoothing Lip Color and Long Wear Lip Liner.
Eye Illuminating Primer
This eye primer comes in one universal shade to even out skin tone on the eyelid and to intensify color. It also creates a foundation for color to glide on smoothly and stay in place. It has an ophthalmologist-tested, non-streaking formula to act as a barrier between the oils of the skin and makeup, to help the shadow stay put, resist creasing, smudging and fading.
The first time I used the primer, I applied it with an eye shadow brush and it emphasized little lines. The second go–round I used my fingers to apply it and it was much better. This time it had the exact opposite effect. It really made a nice smooth, even canvas for the eye shadow. (Of course, I had also had a facial the day before, as well as more sleep that evening—so that might have helped!)
Transforming Shadow Duo
The Transforming Shadow Duos are inspired by hues reminiscent of the Simply Vera Vera Wang fashion collection to achieve looks from subtle to dramatic.
You can apply a shade from lid to brow for a subtle, clean look or combine different shades. Each shadow duo comes with a lighter color that can be used over the entire eyelid and a darker contrast shade to use on the outer eye crease and along the lash line. Some of the duos have a matte and a shimmering shade (in #413 there is a shimmery gold shade and a darker matte shadow) or two shimmering shades (#408 has a shimmery bronze and a shimmery cream.) I liked the shades I received and they were long lasting (even without using the eye primer).
Long Wear Eyeliner
The Long Wear Eyeliner is fade-proof eyeliner and can be used to make subtle or boldly defined lines. It glides on without tugging. It can also be smudged into a shadow effect. No sharpening is needed. It has a long wearing non-smudging formula that is safe for contact lens wearers and is ophthalmologist tested.
The eyeliner goes on smoothly and is easy to use, making a smooth line. I think the best thing about the eyeliner is that you don't need a sharpener.
Volume Enhancing Mascara
The Volume Enhancing Mascara is supposed to give high-volume, clump-resistant lashes with a brush designed specifically to help boost lash volume and resist clumping and distribute mascara evenly.
I had to sweep over the lashes several times to see any difference. I didn’t see much volume, though I noticed more length. I had to use a lash comb to separate the lashes and get rid of a few clumps. It doesn’t flake or smudge. Another thing I noticed was that the mascara didn’t bother my eyes. After it was dry I wasn’t even aware I had on mascara, which can’t be said for other mascaras I’ve tried.
